My name is Igor Lypaczewski and from a young age my deep fascination for working with my hands was ignited, nurtured by the guidance of my grandfather, Leopold Erbel.
At Erbel, we are a small but skilled team of builders that specialises in high specification refurbishments, conversions, with a proven track record in these fields. Erbel undertake all forms of building work in the residential sector. We understand the complexity and challenges of modern design, enjoy working with new materials and take an active part in incorporating design development where necessary.

From a young age, my deep fascination for working with my hands was ignited, nurtured by the guidance of my grandfather, Leopold Erbel. A skilled craftsman at the prestigious General Walter Metal Works and Arms Production factory, he took me under his wing, fostering my interest and talent in the art of precision craftsmanship in his own workshop. It was within those walls that I discovered the profound connection between design and creation, honing my keen eye for detail. My grandfather instilled in me the values of appreciating diverse materials, understanding their complementary nature, and harnessing their collective potential to fashion something truly exceptional. His invaluable wisdom resounds in my mind to this day: “Plan diligently and never compromise on quality.”
In homage to the man who shaped my journey, I chose to name my company after him, a tribute to the profound influence he had on my life. In 1999, as I prepared to embark on an interior design course, fate guided me to London instead, where I immersed myself in the construction industry. Over the years, I traversed every facet of residential development, merging the knowledge passed down by my grandfather with the skills I acquired, transforming designs into meticulous delivery plans and ultimately delivering exceptional finished products.
Observing the frustrations of clients faced with unexpected costs and surprises being thrown at them, I was motivated to break away and establish a residential development business built on unwavering quality and integrity. In 2009, the foundations were laid for our original company, and with a steadfast core team, we have now expanded our reach, undertaking an array of projects in central London, with a particular focus on properties surrounding the illustrious Royal Parks.
Through our journey, I have learned that clients truly value a contractor who not only poses the right questions but also fearlessly challenges design aspects, all while preserving the integrity of the vision. It is the passion-driven builders, meticulous in every phase of the process, who can achieve this feat.
